Now I’ve heard some cheesy Valentines cards, those theatrical one-liners that high school boys often try to think up. I remember making a few bucks back in junior year, selling folded paper cranes to guys who would spin around and tell their girlfriends that they had made this crane, just for her, a labor of love and all that cheesiness that the girls clearly knew to laugh at.
So when my little teenage brother spied the Giant Microbes Kissing Disease Mono Microbe on my computer screen and found out what it was, I knew I’d never hear the end of it.
Among other card message ideas to accompany this gift:
- Its so cute, you practically want to catch it. So kiss me.
- Look at those big, begging eyes. You just can’t say no to those begging eyes! Do I have those big, begging eyes?
- Its trying to tell you telepathically – we were meant to be!
- Its staring at us cause we’re supposed to kiss.
Having finally pushed my brother out of the room, I’d just like to note that these adorable pink Giant Microbes Kissing Disease Mono Microbes each come with a tag that has a picture of the actual microbe, its scientific name, and a brief science and history lesson about the disease as well. It actually does look like the real thing (except for the eyes). Each Giant Microbe is about 5-7 inches across, over a million times bigger than the actual microbe.
Teenage jokes aside, these Giant Microbes make great teaching aids. Unlike the bland microscope pictures commonly found in textbooks, Giant Microbes are much easier for kids to relate to, and they’re much more likely to pay attention and remember the lessons learned with it. Giant Microbes can also make great gifts! They’re great for teachers, parents, kids interested in science, and anyone with a sense of humor or in need of a smile. And, in this case, they can also be funny Valentines gifts as well.
These toys are recommended for ages 3 and up. You can find your own here.
